DIY Party Favor Bags

I had so much fun making these tiny little party favor bags!  Sharon and I got to set up a little party table for a photo shoot this past week. Janae Hardy took the photos.  She is amazing!  We all had a great time.

These bags are similar to the chalk bags that I've shared with you before, with just a few added fancies for your enjoyment. They are really simple and are a great added sparkle to your party.

Follow along to make your own:

You need:

Fabric
Scissors
Ribbon
Decorative ribbon/fringe
A sewing machine
I borrowed my mom's machine because mine is currently broken =(  This is the machine I learned to sew on!

First you will cut your first rectangle of fabric to the size you want. I did a 12x5 inch piece. The size is up to you though...these bags can be as big or small as you like. Then before you get to sewing, cut the rest to size, using the first one as a pattern.(I made four)

Fold the fabric over about 1 1/2 inches(bad sides of fabric touching) to create a casing for your drawstring.

On the front side, on the bottom edge of the casing stitch line, sew decorative ribbon/fringe on.

With good sides of fabric touching, sew sides of bag together, stopping at the casing stitch.

Fold bag like shown and sew across the bottom of the bag to create support.

Flip Bag inside out after sewing both corners.

Once flipped, the corners should look like this.

Next, using a safety pin to guide it through, push the ribbon through the casing you have sewn.

Gather the casing with the ribbon.

See! Not hard at all...I hope you enjoy! Have fun blessing friends with these fun little party bags.

  1. I love this bag! They look so much nicer than store bought party favour bags. I like the fabric you have used - what sort of fabric is it?

  2. Thanks ladies! I used a sturdy, faux snake print. As much as I sew, I should know what kind of fabric it is, but I'm not sure! Stiffer fabric is good though, for creating a more structured look.
