Dress # 3: Floral Pop

Happy Monday to you!  It's another week...and we have lots to be thankful for.  I can't believe it's the last day of October already!  Crazy! We had a really fun weekend.  We went to a cabin and got to enjoy the beautiful scenery in the woods and some great fellowship with friends.  The trees were fire red and orange and yellow... GORGEOUS!  I love fall!

We also got to go to a very special wedding.  They are two great people and I'm so happy for them.  Their wedding was perfect. I took a few pictures I'd love to share with you later this week. The bride is so creative and it showed in all the details of her wedding.  It was like a dream.

Here's dress # 3.  I think this one it my favorite one.   I really like the cotton floral pattern and the fun fall colors.  It looks a bit vintage too...which I love.  I wouldn't mind keeping this one, but I shall refrain...

Dress # 2: Fall Plaid

I finished four more dresses!  Justin is such a great encourager to me and helps me actually FINISH things.  That is one of my biggest weaknesses.  I LOVE starting new things...and then hate finishing them when the newness wears off.  It's something I have to learn to be better at all around in life.  Anyway...It felt really good to finish them today.  I'm excited to turn them in to a local boutique here in town RVA.  I have several other dresses for sale in the shop and am excited to see how these will do.  I'm so thankful for the opportunities God has blessed me with.  I actually get to do what I love doing.

Here is the first of the four I'm going to share with you.  I thought this one was fitting for halloween...

Vintage Table Runner

I got this dainty little runner at a garage sale a while back.  I love finds like these.  I always wonder who put all the time into making it. I think this one is so beautiful.  The colors and pattern is so fun!

Senior Pictures: Lovely Country

Justin and I had the privilege of taking Anna's senior pics recently.  She is a sweet girl who loves all things country.  Her family has the most beautiful land that they wanted her pictures taken on. They told us lots of stories of their family history and all the hard work that went into the land.  We even got to see the original cabin built years and years ago. It was all run down, but it was really neat!  I can't believe how people used to live.  No running water, no heating and air, no washer and dryer or dishwasher.  We have it so good!

Anna was a joy to take pictures of.  She is so genuine and seems to have so much fun in life.  She loves the outdoors and hunts every year with her dad...how neat is that!

Here are a few pics of Anna...

It's time to decorate pumpkins!

We still havn't even gotten any pumpkins this season.  Last year we went to a pumpkin patch and both picked out our very own.  There's not much time left before November is here! I can't believe how fast this month has flown by.  I still have my September calendar up in our dining room that I drew on our chalk board.  I'm way behind.

I think I might just go for a cheap-o pumpkin and paint it this year.  I like these ideas...

Rainbow Mugs

I love this set of vintage mugs I got years ago.  I got them at a garage sale when I was about 15.  You know those special little things you found when you were younger that you could picture using in your own home someday?  Well these were one of those items.

It was so fun when we moved into our first house and I got to unwrap them from the paper I had them stored away in and set them out on our kitchen counter.  It's the little things in life.

We have them on our counter now in our new house too, right by the tea kettle on the stove...ready for use.  They're just the right size...

Tis the Season for Chai!

I LOVE Chai tea!  It is so warm and soothing and delish.  We've been making lots lately with this cold weather.  We just bought a big thing of powdered Chai at Sams and it's already half gone...sad.  You should get some though. And you gotta put whip cream and cinnamon/nutmeg on top.  It the best that way!

Clean and Fresh Design

It's official....I love every room in this apartment.  It seems like everything has a place and a reason. They actually thought about a color palette and how to balance out their space.  I forget sometimes that my not wanting things to be a perfect match doesn't have to mean that nothing can match!  Take a look at these gorgeous spaces found here.

Fall Camping: Final Post: The Details

I'm so sad our camping trip had to come to an end.  I'm so thankful for family and Life and being able to enjoy things together.  It is amazing to enjoy God's beauty. Here are a few details from our time.

Fall Camping: Post 2: Campfire Pancakes

I love gathering around the campfire and making food! There are so many fun things you can cook up on a fire.  We decided to make hobo stew for one dinner. It was so yummy. You just cut up potatoes, carrots, onions, green pepper, (any veggie) and add a meat (we did hamburger). Just wrap it all up in foil and cook over the fire.  It hits the spot!

Fall Camping: Post 1: Family and Fall

I love camping! We were able to take a family (minus two) camping trip this past weekend and it was so much fun.  The weather was perfect.  Cool at night and warm during the day. Perfect for getting all cozy under the blankets and then playing hard during the day. We made breakfasts and dinners over the campfire and packed a lunch for our hike during the day. We were all in awe of God's handiwork.

The fall leaves were BEAUTIFUL!  We all enjoyed the changing season this weekend.  Here are a few pics from our time. Wish times like these didn't go by so fast!

I'll be posting a few more camping pics this week.  There are just way too many beautiful things!

Shiny Shiny

I was able to help with some decor for a local coffee shop through Sharon Taylor.  She designed the layout of the shop from floor to ceiling.  Lighting, paint, artwork, furniture, pillows and decor. She is so talented.  I loved being able to work with her. Here are a few of the pillows and the drapes I made for Bocca Mocha.

More Decor

I was looking at more decor pics and love these. I just want to get lots of ideas before I make too many decisions...since decisions usually = money...if ya know what I mean.

I love this chair!  And the tv stand is simple and timeless.  The speakers are really neat too!  They actually look like art on the wall and not just a big black box.  I like.

I like how simple the bathroom colors are too. Super cozy.

Photos found here.

Furnishing Our House

We've been in our new house for over five months now and I still feel like we're settling in. I realize that things aren't going to be how you want them for a long time...but I am getting a little stir crazy.  I want to hang more stuff up, make more curtains, organize, and make it feel more like home.  That's all fun for me, but I've just been overwhelmed with all the different ways it could look, that I don't do anything at all.

Here's a few pieces of furniture I like.  I'd love to get a few book shelves for the living room and our bedroom.  I still havn't found our tv stand that I've been looking for over a year now. I guess I'm just too picky!

Orange & Yellow, Blue and Brown

I was going through my closet today, frantically trying to find a matching pair of boots among the chaos of pillows and clothes and I don't know what else.  It needs some work. We now have a closet with space, and I somehow still manage to make it hard on myself to find things.  I think it's just become that catch all closet where I can hide my messes.  I do plan on cleaning it up soon!

While I was digging, I found some heels I bought a when I was in high school.  I remember getting them when my mom and I were in the mall on  a special shopping trip.  Special because we rarely went to the mall.  There was a huge shoe sale and I just couldn't put them down.  I think they're so fun and I want to wear them more.  Thought they were great to share along with this fall season.

We got to take some senior pics out in a surrounding town this weekend.  The family had the most beautiful piece of property.  With the trees changing colors, it was just perfect.  I'm excited to see how they turn out!  I love being able to take pics with Justin.  We're learning lots.

Hope you all had a great weekend.
Until next time.

Dress # 1....Check Mate

I've finished one of the five dresses I'm working on. Another one is ALMOST done too!  I'm so excited!  I love getting back in to making dresses again.  I wanted to go simple with this one. It's super versatile. You can wear in with or without a belt. With boots, heels, jeans, leggings.  Whatever you're in the mood for. And what I love about this pattern is that the style goes great on anyone.

Sherbet Accents

Fall is here and so is the color Sherbet. I love orange hues.  When I was in high school I painted my room Pumpkin Spice.  I loved it!  I'm not sure about an entire orange room anymore, but I do like it as an accent.

Little Jewel Bird

I've had this bird cage for several years now, and hadn't found the perfect use for it...until today!  I love how unique it is.  It adds a little character to our bathroom and isn't just sitting collecting dust.  It now serves a purpose! I don't have tons of jewelry, but It's fun to have a neat place to store it.

Applesauce Muffins

The applesauce turned out AMAZING...as always. I always love going to my parent's house and making it with my mom.  It brings back lots of memories.

It's crazy to me that you don't have to add ANYTHING to applesauce and it still tastes so sweet and yummy.  I've already gone through a bag. I would eat it with every meal if I could!

Here's that Muffin Recipe I said I'd share with you.  I just made them the other night with dinner.  I think they are my favorite muffins.  At least they're up there at the top of the list.

Applesauce Muffins

Bake for 20-25 min (or less in mini muffin pan) at 350°
1 1/2 cups flour
1 3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup oil
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup applesauce or grated apple

Mix the dry ingredients together in one bowl, and the wet in another.  Then mix both together.

Strength

Sometimes, another week seems overwhelming. I feel like I didn't get enough rest or get everything accomplished that I wanted to...(and I don't even have kids yet!...I don't know how you moms do it!) Sometimes there are things in life that I feel like aren't falling into perfect place as I see fit.  I'm so glad that God has plans far greater than mine. He sustains me...I just wish I could remember that daily.

Isaiah 40:28-31

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength;   they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary;  they shall walk and not faint.

Wait on Him...Trust in Him, and He will give you Strength.
